Modalities of delivery to Door in FCL shipments
Within the operative area of a freight forwarder, during the international logistics process, there are different modalities for the delivery of an Import FCL shipment to the final client, when this service is contracted through the shipping line.
The different modalities that the shipping lines offer us for the delivery of a container, having in common that the merchandise is de-customized at the moment of proceeding with the service are the following ones.
All Truck: The shipping company assigns a land carrier from its portfolio of suppliers.
Truck (Rail/Truck): The shipping company manages with the railway line the assignment of a gondola that allows the container to move to an internal customs, where it is then removed with a land transport from its portfolio of suppliers.
To Rampa (Rail/Tamp): The shipping company manages with the railway line the assignment of a gondola that allows the container to move to an internal customs, being the responsibility of the client/forwarder to remove the container from it.
We will offer all three services by calling them Inside BL. Choosing a modality will depend on the international logistics process and the needs of each client, since a decision must be made based on the nature of the merchandise, the urgency of the shipment, the service and the cost offered. The main advantage of these modalities is the cost “all in” since all the expenses referring to maneuvers of the containers are covered by the shipping company until the moment of its delivery with the final client, not applying maneuvers of unloading of the containers.
